5 Trending Colors Straight From the Runway

Written by Kathryn Andes

After months of cold weather along the east coast accompanied by balaclavas, camel coats, chunky knit sweaters, and thermal tights, Spring is finally on its way, and along with it comes bright, bold, zestful colors. The Spring 2022 New York Fashion Week colors have officially hit the runways consisting of a mix of muted pastel tones, and saturated vibrant hues. In Spring 2022, it's all about contrasting shades within the same color family. Our favorite brands such as Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Proenza Schouler, Versace, and Valentino have set the mood for what's to come in Spring/ Summer 2022.

We’ve created the ultimate guide with the trendiest colors that you need to incorporate into your Spring wardrobe. There is a clear theme of eye-catching colors that reflect shades in nature such as flowers, a sunset, and greenery. Bright colors are always in season during the Springtime, but now you have a cornucopia of new, trendy colors to mix and match with.

1. Bubblegum Pink

Bubblegum Pink

When it comes to feminine colors, you can always look to Chanel to make for the perfect pink statement piece. The French fashion house is known for its sophisticated, feminine aesthetic.  Bubblegum pink was seen in the Chanel S/S 2022 Ready to Wear Collection at NYFW. This color radiates all things graceful, it's associated with playfulness and effeminacy. While pink is a color that can be gentle and soft, there is also an immense power behind it, symbolic for so many influential movements in our country’s history.

2. Kelly Green

The bag that took the fashion world by storm in 2021, and is still spotted in street style and the runways in 2022, is the Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie Bag. Its coveted Intrecciato weave and knotted top handle attracted fashionistas and luxury lovers alike. One of the most popular colors of the Mini Jodie bag is the Kelly Green, seen at the Bottega Veneta NYFW S/S 2022 show. In addition to the Kelly Green color debuting on the runway among handbags, it was also seen throughout the ready to wear collection from dresses to shoes.

3. Channel Orange

At the Proenza Schouler NYFW S/S 2022 show this saturated orange color was seen on the runway from suits to dresses. The New York based luxury brand mirrored this runway look after the Marigold color from the famous Marigold flower, a significant symbol in cultures such as Hindu, Buddhist, and Aztec. This warm, sunny color is exactly what you need to brighten up March and April, and take your Spring wardrobe to the next level.

4. Limeade

One of the most vivid colors that hit the runway at the Versace NYFW Spring 2022 show was this limeade color. Included in the ready to wear women’s collection, this gleaming, summery color reminds us of fresh limes, bountiful greenery, and pistachio gelato. Similar shades of green were seen on the runway in the form of dresses, matching sets, suits, and trousers.

5. Dark Lavender

As seen at the Valentino NYFW Spring 2022 show this deep lavender color introduced the Spring season in the Women’s ready to wear collection. Lighter shades of lavender, including pastels and muted tones were trending in 2019, and now we are seeing them re-emerge in a more sophisticated and mature way. Everything from capes, to sweaters, to trousers are modeled in this grown-up purple shade.
