The new season of Bridgerton aired March 25 and we are obsessed with all the period inspired fashion seen in the show. We have some absolute favorites from the first season of Bridgerton that we are still not over yet. Much like season one, the extravagant tulle, silk, and lace dresses made a comeback in season two, sending the fashion world into a frenzy. We have hand selected our modern take on these gorgeous Bridgerton gowns designed by Ellen Mirojnick who made the entire show’s wardrobe from scratch.
A new fashion trend emerged from the cult favorite Netflix original, called Regency-core. Tiered layers, jacquard fabrics, headbands and intricate necklines took the internet by storm, nodding their heads to Bridgerton fashion. We can expect lavish puffed sleeves, florals, beaded embellishments, and jewel tones trending for Spring thanks to the keen style of this season’s main character, Miss Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley.
While we love the patterns, drapes, and colors of these Bridgerton dresses, we have curated a collection of modern dresses with flattering silhouettes, and trendy styles. Check out these modern Regency-core inspired dresses below (Spoilers Ahead) 
This Dolce & Gabbana Yellow & Black Crochet Maxi Dress shares the same vibrant yellow color with the gown that actress Nicola Coughlan wore in her role as Penelope Featherington. While the gown from Bridgerton, designed by Ellen Mirojnic, is embellished with flower appliques, lace, and beading, this Dolce and Gabbana Maxi Dress is a more minimalist option. While the modern D&G dress is a bit more understated, it shares similar details with the 1800’s inspired gown, such as the waist band underneath the bust.
This Dolce & Gabbana Floral Velvet Trim Midi Dress is the perfect present-day version of the pink floral dress from season 1 of Bridgerton. It has the same pink and green shades, with a modern silhouette. While the waist line hugs the bodice lower, and the neckline is a contemporary v-neck. Penelope Featherington would definitely wear this dress to work, for a girl’s night out, or Sunday brunch.
While this Pamella Roland Blue Halter Dress is a bit different from the dress on Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, the silhouette of the dresses remain alike. One major similarity is the focus on the bust, it draws the viewer's eye straight to the intricate detailing. While midriff cutouts were not in fashion during the 1800’s, this Pamela Roland dress brings a modern Regency-core edge to the garment.
Florals are a must in this Pamella Roland Purple Strapless Fringe Dress as well as the dress seen on Philippa Featherington played by Harriet Cains. The Featherington family is known for their flamboyant, colorful dresses, and this purple Pamela Roland dress would definitely be spotted on one of the daughters in modern day.
Spoiler alert! This Valentino White Lace Yoke Butterfly Dress would look beautiful on a modern day bride like Daphne Bridgerton. Throughout season one Daphne’s style is elegant, tasteful, and classy just as her wedding dress is at the end of the season. While this Valentino dress is a tad more casual than Daphne’s true Regency style dress, it still makes for a lovely option for a casual yet whimsical wedding.
This Parker Blue & White Printed Mini Dress is exactly what Miss Kate Sharma would wear in present day. Throughout season two Miss Sharma is seen in blue, purple, and green jewel tones representing her intelligence and authority. A present day Kate would be seen promenading with her sister in the Parker Blue & White dress.
Here Kate is seen in another ladylike dress mixing dark lavender and plum. The Just Cavalli Purple Silk Twist Halter Dress would be perfect for a 2022 Miss Sharma. The neckline brings out a modern day design, while staying true to the character’s favorite color palette and silhouette.
