Coco Chanel began her career designing hats that were worn by famous French actresses. Her first boutique opened in 1912 with a collection of sportswear debuting the following year. It was an instant success which jump started her haute couture career. After Karl Lagerfeld was named artistic director in the 80’s, Chanel’s haute couture was reborn with many styles that we still see today. Now led by Virginie Viard, who began her career at Chanel as an intern, has put out collection after collection of reinvented fashion forward looks.
